The building designed for the small village of Roiu is the first of four planned community buildings, which will consolidate various public functions to serve the local community. The proposed building is based on the preliminary project prepared by Ehitusprojekt OÜ and the building includes a youth and day center.
The one-storey building has a special-shaped floor plan and a double-pitched roof, which can be conceptually divided into three parts, volumetrically two. The building with wide eaves and wooden facade is modest yet distinctive from its surroundings. The building is articulated by a covered terrace on the northwest side and opened terraces on the southwest and northwest sides, accessible from all major rooms. The building is designed so that events in the youth and day center can be separated if necessary, but also connected through outdoor areas and a shared kitchen area when needed. In addition, all supporting functions within the building volume (e.g., storage space, janitorial room, toilets, etc.) are conveniently placed for everyone’s use.
